Nick Barstow is a musical director, arranger, composer and vocalist. He recently worked on the UK Premier of It’s Only Life by John Bucchino, and will be taking a new actor-musician production of Much Ado About Nothing on a UK and European tour. Earlier this year he was Musical Director on Company with David Adkin productions, arranged a new Andrew Lloyd Webber revue on commission from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and composed a new version of A Christmas Carol produced by Peter Brook Equity Ensemble award winners Antic Disposition at Middle Temple Hall. Previously he toured the UK with Frank Wildhorn's Wonderland, starring Kerry Ellis, Wendi Peters and Dave Willets, worked with BBC Children In Need on a brand new musical, with director Kirk Jameson on a new production of Privates on Parade starring 2017 Drama Desk award winner Simon Green, and with Les Enfants Terribles on their multiple award-winning show The Terrible Infants, staged for the first time in Wilton’s Music Hall.
As a solo performer Nick will be presenting his new cabaret RE:Arrangement at Brasserie Zedel on August 4th and 5th, guest starring Noel Sullivan, Caroline Sheen and Alice Fearn. He featured as a judge alongside Gareth Malone in The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain. As an arranger and orchestrator his work has been performed around the world, including at West End Miscast, The English Theatre of Tel Aviv and the Royal Festival Hall under the baton of comedian and Maestro winner Sue Perkins.
Nick has worked extensively with Alice Fearn and featured as MD and accompanist in both her first solo cabaret, Where I’ve Been and Where I’m Going (St James Studio) and her second earlier this year, Just Me and a Piano (Crazy Coqs, Brasserie Zedel). Nick also features as MD and pianist on Alice’s first album, Where I’ve Been……Where I’m Going (Auburn Jam Music).
Nick is co-founder and MD of successful vocal group AfterParty. The group have performed at the St James Theatre, Aldwych Theatre, Arts Theatre, Dominion Theatre, The View From The Shard and King’s Place as well as for numerous high profile events nationwide including the Covent Garden Christmas Lights Switch On 2015 and Sport Relief 2016. Their debut album Hotel Lobby was released in September 2016.
